Year 5 - Help 4 Refugees

Year 5 began our CST by enquiring about who’s life may not protected and who may feel unimportant in our world. Through lots of discussion we realised that those who are considered ‘refugees’ may not have the resources they need to feel valued and important as they enter new countries. Inspired by one of our class reads, ‘The boy at the back of the class’, we decided that we could help refugee children by creating small welcome packs. Each pack contained: a small toy, a chocolatey treat, hygiene products and hats, gloves or scarves. The children wanted to make sure the refugees felt welcomed and so they each made a small card and wrote beautiful prayers to remind them they are our global neighbours and part of God’s family. These welcome packs were delivered to Hull Help 4 Refugees, who were thrilled with the children’s efforts.
